By TechWatch PH Staff

Users of X reported new access issue late Friday night, with outage tracker Downdetector recording a sharp spike in complaints within a short period of time.

Based on Downdetector data, reports surged past 200 incidents shortly after midnight on January 17, a noticeable jump from the platform’s normal baseline activity. Users flagged problems loading timelines, posting content, and accessing core features on both mobile and web versions of the platform.

X has not yet released an official statement explaining the cause of the reported service interruption.

The outage was felt by users across multiple regions, with social media discussions quickly spilling over to alternative platforms as users sought confirmation and updates while X remained unstable for some.

X, which was rebranded from Twitter following its acquisition by Elon Musk, has undergone major infrastructure and operational changes over the past year—moves that analysts say may contribute to occasional service disruptions.

TechWatch PH will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates once X issues an official explanation or restoration notice.
