Gogolook, a leading trust tech company and the developer of the scam detection app Whoscall, has paved the way for the establishment of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) in the Philippines.
A founding member of GASA at the global level, Gogolook formally introduced the Whoscall app in the country in August 2023 and later set up a local business entity to solidify its long-term presence.
The launch of GASA Philippines is seen as a significant step in uniting technology providers, regulators, law enforcement, and communities against the rising tide of online scams and fraud.
“As founding member of GASA, Gogolook has been instrumental in ensuring the creation of a local chapter in the Philippines,” said Mel Migrino, Country General Manager of Gogolook Philippines. “It is part of our mission to empower Filipinos with tools like Whoscall, while also fostering collaboration across industries, government, and communities to disrupt the systemic scam ecosystem.”
Migrino added that Gogolook also played a key role in bringing the GASA State of Scam Report to the Philippines, giving the country access to global insights on fraud trends and local data that help shape strategies against scams. “By combining international research with Philippine-specific intelligence, we are able to craft more targeted solutions that protect our citizens,” she said.
GASA PH has set its vision “to empower and secure every Filipino against the evolving landscape of digital fraud and scams.”
Its mission is to protect Filipinos by conducting nationwide education and awareness campaigns, providing expert advice and actionable intelligence, and empowering consumers and enterprises to build proactive defenses, especially among vulnerable groups.
The mission will be carried out through five working committees covering awareness and education, data and threat intelligence, policy and advocacy, and industry partnerships.
The Awareness & Education Committee will design national scam prevention programs, create toolkits for high-risk groups, conduct training, and lead thought leadership initiatives.
The Data & Threat Intelligence Committee will enable contextual intelligence sharing, leverage global data, and support collaboration through shared dashboards and research.
The Policy, Advocacy & Legislative Affairs Committee will develop policy briefs, engage with regulators, and back victim reporting and recovery mechanisms.
The Industry Relations & Partnerships Committee will focus on cultivating new members and sponsors to broaden support for anti-scam efforts.
Globe Telecom has been named chair of the GASA Philippines Chapter, with Gogolook and Meta serving as vice chairs, ensuring that leadership spans across telecommunications, technology, and social media sectors.
With Gogolook’s role in launching Whoscall and shaping GASA PH, the Philippines is positioning itself as a regional leader in building proactive and collaborative defenses against digital fraud. GASA PH will announce its founding members soon.
