Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), xAI, and other ventures, has introduced a new project under his artificial intelligence company xAI. He announced the upcoming launch of “Macrohard,” which he describes as a fully artificial intelligence (AI)-powered software company.
In a post on his official X account, Musk said, “Join @xAI and help build a purely AI software company called Macrohard. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real!”
“In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI,” he added.
In the same post, Musk noted that that companies like Microsoft primarily build software rather than hardware—making them ideal candidates for AI-driven replication.
The Macrohard will rely on specialized AI agents capable of coding, generating images, automating workflows, and managing entire systems—essentially functioning as a digital workforce.
The vision was echoed by Grok, xAI’s chatbot, which described Macrohard as a project powered by multiple AI agents working together like a human team to produce software and services. Grok added that the effort is actively recruiting talent, emphasizing that “it’s real, and we’re hiring.”
“Macrohard is xAI’s playful project name (a nod to Microsoft) for building a fully AI-simulated software company. The goal: since firms like Microsoft produce no physical hardware, AI could theoretically replicate their entire operations—from coding to management. It’s real, and we’re hiring,” it said.

Macrohard would join Musk’s long lineup of ventures, which he either owns or oversees. At present, he is simultaneously leading Tesla, xAI, X Corp, The Boring Company, SpaceX, and Neuralink.
The creation of Macrohard also comes as Musk expands further into AI and robotics, including encouraging Tesla to invest in xAI. In a 2024 earnings call, Musk argued that those viewing Tesla merely as an auto company are holding “the wrong framework,” and instead described Tesla as an “AI robotics company.”
In the Philippines, Musk’s known product is Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX that provides satellite internet services. Local authorized resellers such as Converge and PLDT have partnered to distribute and expand Starlink’s services nationwide.
