E-wallet platform Maya has affirmed its commitment to fully comply with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) directive to take down links to online gambling platforms from its app.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 14, it said that “Maya is ready to comply with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) directive to remove links to online gambling from its app.”
“The update will be implemented in line with the BSP’s guidance,” Maya said.
The central bank earlier gave e-wallet operators 48 hours to remove all the links related to online gambling sites, following concerns raised during a Senate hearing of the Committee on Games and Amusements, jointly with the Committees on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies; Youth; Economic Affairs; and Ways and Means.
Furthermore, maya assured their customers “that their accounts and transactions remain secure and fully operational. We remain focused on serving our customers while fully complying with regulatory requirements.”
