Meta has appointed Dhruv Vohra as Managing Director of its Global Business Group for Southeast Asia, putting the seven-year company veteran in charge of its commercial strategy across six markets in the region.
Vohra will oversee Metaβs business operations across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the company announced Wednesday, Oct. 1. He will report to Benjamin Joe, Metaβs Vice President for Asia Pacific.
The appointment comes as Meta looks to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI), business messaging, and its platforms among businesses across Southeast Asia, where consumers increasingly discover products through social media, communicate with sellers through messaging services, and shop during major online sale events.
βSoutheast Asia is one of Meta’s fastest-growing business regions, and the work ahead is helping businesses leverage AI and messaging at the pace their customers already expect,β Joe said.
βDhruv has spent seven years close to those businesses, and he has built the teams that support millions of them. He is the right person for this next phase,β he added.
Vohra joined Meta in 2019 as Director for e-commerce and digital natives, working with companies involved in the regionβs growing digital commerce sector.
He later led Metaβs small and medium business growth operations in Southeast Asia before taking on a broader role covering small and medium businesses across Asia Pacific.
His new position brings him back to Southeast Asia at a time when AI-powered advertising, messaging, social commerce, and live shopping are becoming increasingly important to businesses trying to reach consumers online.
Vohra has also contributed to Metaβs research and discussions on the regionβs digital economy. He writes the LinkedIn column Small to Scale: Inside APAC’s Innovative SMBs and contributed to the companyβs SYNC Southeast Asia series covering digital consumer behavior and e-commerce trends.
βSoutheast Asia is one of the most dynamic and creative regions in the world. Trends such as business messaging and live shopping found early adopters here. No two markets here behave the same way, and the businesses growing fastest here have outgrown the borders they started in. AI has opened up even more possibilities,β Vohra said.
βWorking with our teams and partners to help more businesses innovate is a real privilege,β he added.
