TECNO CAMON Slim 5G set for Philippine launch on Oct. 1

TECNO is set to launch the CAMON Slim 5G in the Philippines on Oct. 1, bringing a 6.39mm-thin smartphone equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, AI-powered photography tools, and a 6,000mAh battery.

The CAMON Slim 5G measures 162.58 x 77.27 x 6.39mm and features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1208 x 2644 resolution and refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

It is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e 5G processor and runs HiOS 16. TECNO lists 128GB and 256GB storage configurations globally, both with 8GB of physical RAM and support for up to 16GB of extended memory using the phone’s storage.

The company, however, has yet to confirm which storage variants will be available in the Philippines.

For photography, the CAMON Slim 5G carries a 50MP main camera using a 1/1.56-inch Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with optical image stabilization. It is paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, while a 32MP camera sits at the front.

TECNO’s Super-Zoom FlashSnap feature is designed to automatically capture moving subjects. The company claims shutter speeds of up to 1/11,236 second and support for 2x shooting.

The camera system also offers 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm portrait views, along with Universal Tone processing designed to improve the representation of different skin tones.

The CAMON Slim 5G comes in five finishes highlighted in TECNO’s Philippine launch materials.

Burgundy Red features a matte fiberglass back with a red-brown finish, while Neo Mondrian appears predominantly white but reveals colored blocks arranged in a grid when exposed to ultraviolet light.

Matisse Black combines a black fiberglass body with a fluorescent green accent, while Van Gogh Blue features a patterned gradient inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s “The Starry Night.” Rebel Pink combines pink accents with a black body.

Beyond photography, TECNO is bringing several AI-powered features to the device.

Snap Poster can turn a product photo into a poster, while LightMaster 2.0 includes tools designed to reduce shadows, flare, and reflections. Recording Notes can transcribe audio into organized notes, while Class Schedule can convert a photographed timetable into a schedule widget.

Another feature, Healthy Eating, can estimate calories and nutrients based on photos of food. TECNO said the availability of individual AI features may vary depending on the market.

The CAMON Slim 5G also carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings, according to TECNO, with support for underwater photography.

TECNO said the device has passed MIL-STD-810 durability tests. Its display is also designed to register touches when a user’s hands are wet or oily, during rain, and when the phone is inside a waterproof case.

Other global specifications include 45W charging, NFC, FM radio, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, USB-C connectivity, and an infrared remote-control function.

TECNO has also introduced the Mag Badge, a magnetic accessory equipped with its own battery and a 1.73-inch AMOLED display. The Bluetooth-connected accessory can display photos, provide a selfie preview, and work as a remote camera shutter from up to 10 meters away.

It remains unclear whether the Mag Badge will be bundled with the CAMON Slim 5G or offered separately in the Philippines.

TECNO said the CAMON Slim 5G will receive three major operating system upgrades and five years of security updates.

Philippine pricing, available storage configurations, and the start of local sales are expected to be announced during the Oct. 1 launch.
