LG pushes large-screen gaming with 100-inch QNED86, highlights immersive play across genres

LG Electronics is positioning its 100-inch QNED86 as a centerpiece for large-screen gaming, combining AI-driven picture and sound technologies with ultra-wide display capabilities to deliver a more immersive home entertainment experience.

In a briefing, LG said the 100-inch QNED86 is designed to go beyond screen size, integrating features such as AI Picture Pro, AI Sound Pro, and the α8 AI Processor Gen2 to enhance visual clarity, motion, and audio depth. The model also carries a super slim 16.4mm profile, alongside support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10, and HLG.

The QNED86 is part of LG’s broader QNED evo lineup, which includes Dynamic QNED Color Pro and Certified 100% Color Volume—technologies aimed at improving color accuracy and brightness consistency across a large display.

LG’s push into ultra-large displays comes as gaming increasingly shifts toward more cinematic and visually demanding experiences. The company said different game genres benefit from different display strengths, particularly when scaled to a 100-inch format.

Color-driven platformers such as Astro Bot highlight the advantages of Dynamic QNED Color Pro and full color volume, allowing vibrant environments and fast-changing visuals to remain consistent even at larger sizes. Meanwhile, open-world racing titles like Forza Horizon 5 take advantage of the Ultra Big Screen and AI Picture Pro, emphasizing environmental scale, lighting, and motion detail.

For cinematic titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, LG pointed to audio performance as a key differentiator. Dolby Atmos and AI Sound Pro support spatial audio output, reinforcing narrative-driven gameplay where dialogue, ambient sound, and pacing play a central role.

The same applies to story-heavy RPGs like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Metaphor: ReFantazio, where immersion depends on both visual depth and long-form viewing comfort. Features such as Filmmaker Mode and webOS Re:new are positioned to support extended sessions, maintaining consistent picture quality and system usability.

LG said the goal is not just to scale up gaming visually, but to make it more immersive and social, particularly for households where large-screen viewing is shared. By combining display size with AI-based processing and cinema-grade audio support, the company is framing the QNED86 as part of a broader shift toward integrated home entertainment setups.

As game design continues to lean into cinematic storytelling and expansive environments, LG is betting that ultra-large displays—paired with AI-enhanced processing—will play a bigger role in how players experience content at home.
