Globe is harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive smarter and more efficient energy use across its network and facilities, demonstrating how sustainability and technology can work hand in hand.

“We see innovation as a force for good,” said Joel Agustin, senior vice president and head of service planning and engineering at Globe. “These AI-driven solutions show that resource efficiency and sustainability go hand-in-hand.”

By embedding AI and Machine Learning (ML) into its network operations, Globe has reduced electricity consumption across thousands of cell sites and buildings nationwide without compromising service quality.

“Tech allows us to respond in real time,” Agustin added. “It’s a smarter way to manage energy because the system knows when to ramp up or slow down depending on demand.”

The company’s AI-powered tools optimize power usage at the cell site level and automatically adapt to shifting network requirements. Through a combination of energy management programs and two AI solutions now deployed to nearly 20,000 network elements across the country, Globe saved more than 11.3 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in 2024 — translating to approximately P125 million in energy cost savings.

In Globe office buildings, AI is also improving cooling efficiency through the use of External Digital Demand Response Technology (EDD-RT). The system regulates cooling for piping equipment to minimize electricity consumption, delivering annual energy savings of between 20 and 30 percent.

Globe said its sustainability efforts continue to expand, guided by the company’s goal of building a greener network that delivers stronger performance, lower operating costs, and reduced environmental impact.
