Samsung Electronics has introduced three new foldable smartphones, expanding its Galaxy Z lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
Unveiled in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, July 22, the new devices are designed to offer different foldable experiences focused on productivity, entertainment and personal expression. Samsung said the expanded lineup reflects its effort to bring foldable smartphones to a wider group of users.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra serves as the premium productivity model, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 focuses on immersive content consumption. The Galaxy Z Flip8, meanwhile, features a compact design built around quick interactions and content creation.
Samsung also optimized its Galaxy AI features for each form factor. The larger displays of the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra support multitasking, while the Flip8 uses an AI-powered FlexWindow to surface relevant information, shortcuts and actions without requiring users to fully open the device.
“As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user,” Samsung Electronics Device eXperience Division Chief Executive Officer TM Roh said.
Galaxy Z Fold8
The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201 grams, making it Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold model so far. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and carries a 4,800 mAh battery.

Its cover display uses a 10:16 screen ratio designed for messaging, browsing and short-form videos. When unfolded, the device offers a 4:3 main display intended for gaming, watching videos and reading long-form content.
Samsung also introduced a new Flex Titanium display structure that combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate. The company said the technology helps strengthen the display, absorb pressure and reduce the visibility of the screen crease over time.
The main screen supports up to 3,000 nits of brightness and includes Vision Booster and a low-reflection finish for improved outdoor visibility.
For photography, the Fold8 is equipped with dual 50-megapixel wide and ultra-wide cameras. It also features Dual Recording, which allows users to record both sides of a scene, and My FanCam, which can track a selected subject and automatically reframe footage for social media formats.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an eight-inch main display and measures 4.1 millimeters when unfolded. It weighs 215 grams and is positioned as Samsung’s most advanced foldable device for productivity and content creation.
The device carries a 200-megapixel main camera with high dynamic range support in full-resolution mode. It is joined by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera for landscapes, group photos, interiors and macro photography.
Samsung also included improved Nightography for low-light photos and videos, 8K video recording using the new APV codec and Cine LUT controls for cinematic color adjustments.
The Fold8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and has a 5,000 mAh battery. It supports 45-watt fast charging through a dual-path charging system designed to distribute power more efficiently.
An expanded graphite cooling structure was also added to help manage heat during intensive multitasking, content creation and AI-powered activities.
Galaxy Z Flip8
The Galaxy Z Flip8 weighs 180 grams and measures 6.1 millimeters thick, making it Samsung’s slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip model.
Its redesigned FlexWindow brings applications, AI-powered insights and connected actions directly to the cover screen. Now Brief provides personalized information and suggested next steps, while Gemini Intelligence allows users to perform connected actions using voice requests or the device’s side key.
The Flip8 is equipped with a 50-megapixel camera supported by Samsung’s ProVisual Engine. Its camera features include hands-free Flex Mode, Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker and Super Steady with Horizontal Lock.
FlipShot allows users to customize the FlexWindow and capture mirror-style selfies, while Mirror View provides a preview before taking a photo.
More connected AI features
Across the three models, Galaxy AI introduces more personalized and proactive features.
Now Nudge can suggest actions based on conversations, including checking schedules, finding locations or saving places. Gemini Intelligence supports automated tasks across more than 40 applications and services, including finding restaurants, making reservations and looking up tickets.
Gemini Notebook also allows users to organize notes, images, recordings, documents and other files in one workspace. Users can turn the collected materials into reports, visual summaries, meeting recaps and audio overviews.
Samsung said the devices are protected through its Knox security platform, which includes Knox Vault, encrypted storage environments and controls for managing on-device and cloud-based AI processing.
One UI 9 also introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard that provides a centralized view of AI-powered actions performed on behalf of the user. Enhanced Privacy Alerts can notify users about potentially unnecessary attempts to access background permissions.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 are available for pre-order in select markets starting July 22. Samsung has yet to provide Philippine pricing and availability details in the announcement.
All three models will be offered in Graphite and Cream. The Fold8 Ultra will also be available in Violet Shadow, while the Fold8 will come in Lavender and the Flip8 in Pink. Online-exclusive colors include Green Shadow, Pistachio and Mint, depending on the model.
