LG InstaView leads refrigerator innovation with patented knock-to-view design

LG Electronics continues to push kitchen innovation with its InstaView refrigerator line, a patented design that allows users to see inside the refrigerator without opening the door.

Introduced globally in 2018, LG InstaView features a glass panel that illuminates with two quick knocks, allowing homeowners to instantly check the contents of the refrigerator. By reducing the need to open the door, the design helps minimize cold air loss and maintain more stable internal temperatures for stored food.

The technology builds on LG’s earlier Door-in-Door concept and has since become one of the company’s signature refrigerator innovations. Today, InstaView models are available in several configurations in the Philippines, combining practical functionality with modern kitchen aesthetics.

Changhee Doh, Product Director of Home Solutions at LG Electronics Philippines, said the design reflects the company’s approach to practical innovation in home appliances.

“LG InstaView reflects our commitment to meaningful innovation. It’s a simple idea with a real impact—allowing families to look inside their refrigerator instantly while helping maintain optimal cooling conditions,” Doh said.

In Filipino households where refrigerators are among the most frequently accessed appliances in the kitchen, the knock-to-view feature offers a quick way to check ingredients, locate drinks, or plan grocery needs without repeatedly opening the door.

Beyond the InstaView panel, select LG refrigerator models integrate additional features designed to support everyday convenience. These include an Auto Ice Maker for continuous ice production and the SpacePlus Ice System, which builds the ice maker into the freezer door to maximize usable storage space.

Food preservation and hygiene functions are also integrated into the appliances. Hygiene Fresh helps deodorize bacteria inside the refrigerator, while DoorCooling+ distributes cold air more evenly across the interior, including the door area where items are often stored.

Freshness features such as the Fresh Converter help maintain humidity levels for fruits and vegetables, while select models include UVnano water filtration technology designed to sterilize bacteria from the dispenser nozzle for cleaner drinking water.

LG InstaView refrigerators are available in several configurations to suit different kitchen layouts. The lineup includes French Door models such as the RVF-X208MC, Side-by-Side models including the RVS-X238MC and RVS-G245PZ, and the Bottom Freezer model RJB-V127BG from the Objet Collection.

Available through the LG Online Brand Shop and authorized dealers nationwide, the InstaView lineup reflects LG’s continued focus on combining energy efficiency, smart design, and practical features that support everyday kitchen use.
