Metrobank has joined the growing list of banks removing digital transfer charges, announcing that customers can now send money through InstaPay and PESONet for free using the Metrobank App.
In a public advisory, Metrobank said users may send money “everyday without worrying about additional fees” when using the bank’s mobile app.
“Zero transfer fees. Zero reasons not to send with Metrobank,” the bank said.
The waiver covers regular transfers made through InstaPay, as well as higher-value fund transfers coursed through PESONet. Metrobank said “all transfers are now free” through the Metrobank App.
The move comes as more banks and e-wallets in the Philippines adjust, lower, or remove digital fund transfer fees following growing public demand for more affordable cashless transactions.
Metrobank advised customers who need assistance or have inquiries to send a private message to its official page or contact its Metrobank Contact Center. The bank also reminded the public that it is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, while deposits are insured by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. up to ₱1 million per depositor.
Metrobank’s announcement further widens the shift among financial institutions making digital transfers more accessible to Filipino customers, especially as InstaPay and PESONet continue to serve as key channels for everyday payments and interbank fund movement.
