Lenovo, Motorola expand Qira AI across devices and everyday apps

Lenovo and Motorola are expanding their Qira personal AI across more PCs, smartphones and wearables, while adding connections to everyday services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack and Outlook.

The expansion was announced at Lenovo Innovation World during IFA 2026 in Berlin, Germany, building on the initial rollout of Qira announced earlier this year.

Lenovo said Qira will now support eligible Lenovo PCs with 16GB of memory, widening availability beyond higher-memory configurations. The company has so far brought the AI platform to more than 80 supported PC configurations across its commercial and consumer portfolios, as well as select tablets and Motorola smartphones.

Motorola Qira, meanwhile, will expand to eligible Motorola devices as they receive the Android 17 upgrade, including select edge, signature and razr devices.

The rollout will be gradual, with availability depending on the device and market. On supported Motorola smartphones currently using moto ai and tablets featuring AI Now, the Android 17 upgrade will introduce Motorola Qira.

The AI will also make its way to the moto watch ultra, making it the first wearable to support Qira.

Users will be able to raise their wrist or say “Hey Qira” to ask questions or retrieve information using Qira’s cross-device knowledge.

“Personal AI should not be another app waiting for a prompt,” said Dan Dery, Vice President of AI Ecosystem at Lenovo. “It should understand what matters to you, move with you across devices and help orchestrate next steps across the agents, applications and services you choose.”

“With this next evolution of Lenovo & Motorola Qira, we are bringing that vision closer to reality through intelligence that is built into the device, designed around the individual and developed with privacy, choice and control at its core,” he added.

Qira connects with everyday apps

Lenovo is also extending Qira beyond its own hardware through a new collaboration with Workato.

On supported devices, Qira can connect with select applications and services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Slack, Outlook Mail and Outlook Calendar.

The integrations are intended to let users retrieve information and take actions without repeatedly moving between individual applications.

For example, Lenovo said users could use Qira’s Catch Me Up feature to find updates from emails, calendars or group chats and take action through the same interface.

Lenovo is also collaborating with Notion and expanding Qira’s existing integration with Perplexity.

Users will be able to connect their Notion accounts to Qira to retrieve information from projects and make edits. The expanded Perplexity integration, meanwhile, is designed to support deeper research and provide visual references for certain queries.

Qira is built around a hybrid, local-first architecture that prioritizes processing information on the device when supported, according to Lenovo.

Information added to a user’s personal knowledge base is encrypted and stored locally. When cloud processing is required, Lenovo said Qira sends the prompt and relevant context needed for the requested task through encrypted cloud services.

Lenovo Qira currently supports six languages, with additional languages planned. Lenovo also intends to bring the platform to more device families and form factors by the end of 2026.

Availability and timing will vary depending on the device, market and configuration. Some Qira features will also require software updates, user permission, supported services, account sign-ins or an internet connection.
