Meta appears to be quietly expanding its social media ecosystem with the launch of a new standalone app called “Forum,” a platform centered on community discussions, recommendations, and interest-based conversations similar to Reddit.
The app recently appeared on the Apple App Store under the title “Forum, a Facebook app,” where Meta describes it as a space designed for “deeper discussions, real answers and the communities you care about.”
Currently, the app appears to be available only in select regions as Meta has yet to officially announce a broader global rollout.
Forum focuses on topic-driven engagement, allowing users to ask questions, join discussions, discover niche communities, and exchange recommendations across interests such as travel, food, hobbies, lifestyle, and entertainment.
The platform also includes AI-powered personalization features. One feature called “Your algorithm” summarizes user interests based on activity and recommends topics users may want to explore further while reducing content they are less interested in seeing.
The release highlights Meta’s growing push toward interest-based social networking as platforms increasingly compete to build online communities centered on conversations rather than traditional friend-and-follower interactions.
The app could also position Meta deeper into the discussion-platform market currently dominated by Reddit and Discord, while leveraging Meta’s broader ecosystem and recommendation technologies.
As of writing, Meta has yet to release official details regarding wider availability, Android support, or long-term plans for the platform.
According to the App Store listing, Forum is currently categorized under Social Networking and is available for free on iPhone devices in supported regions.
