The Social Security System (SSS) has activated its technology-driven Calamity Loan Program to support members affected by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu and the recent series of typhoons.

Starting October 2, 2025, members can now file their loan applications entirely online through the My.SSS portal, a move that ensures faster approval and quicker release of funds.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph Montes De Claro said that the new Guidelines of the SSS Calamity Loan Program now in place allows SSS to respond sooner and immediately provide financial support through Calamity Loans for affected SSS members featuring lowered interest rate of 7 percent per annum and loanable amount of up to P20,000.

“We want to assure our members that they can rely on SSS in times of calamities and other natural disasters. Our goal is to support the quick recovery of our members in quake-hit areas by providing them with an accessible loan program,” De Claro stated.

De Claro added that the program’s loan activation process has been significantly shortened enabling SSS to provide immediate financial assistance to affected members.

Through the My.SSS portal, members may log in, file their calamity loan application digitally, and monitor its status in real time.

Once approved, the proceeds are credited directly to their enrolled disbursement accounts, whether through banks or e-wallets, ensuring that financial relief is delivered even if physical offices remain inaccessible due to calamities.

To qualify, members must be residing or working in an area declared under a State of Calamity and must have at least 36 monthly contributions, with at least six of these posted within the last 12 months prior to filing. Individually paying members should also have paid at least six contributions under their current membership type.

Applicants are required to have an online SSS account (My.SSS) to file their application, must have no past due or restructured loans, and must not have been granted any final benefit. They should also be of legal age but under 65 years old at the time of application and must not have been previously disqualified due to fraud committed against the SSS.

De Claro also emphasized that the program extends beyond Cebu, covering members impacted by Typhoons Mirasol, Nando, and Opong, as well as the enhanced southwest monsoon that disrupted communities nationwide.

“The series of typhoons in the past several days has affected the daily lives and livelihood of our members in different parts of the country. Through our new Calamity Loan Program, SSS is now more responsive to the needs of affected SSS members as the loan window is announced and implemented within a few days from declaration of State of Calamity providing immediate financial support and helping them recover sooner from these weather disturbances,” De Claro said.
