DICT highlights eGov PH App’s enhanced issue reporting ahead of the Christmas season
As the Christmas season approaches, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has reintroduced the e-Report feature on the e-Government Philippines (eGov PH) Super App, allowing the public to directly report various issues.
“One of the standout features of the eGov Super App is the e-Report system. With just a click of the ‘Report’ button, users can easily report different concerns,” DICT Undersecretary David said.
“For example, reporting a crime alerts the police, while a fire incident notifies the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). Complaints about red tape are sent to ARTA (Anti-Red Tape Authority), and cases involving women and child abuse are forwarded to the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the Council for the Welfare of Children,” he explained, highlighting the system’s capabilities.
Meanwhile, Almirol highlighted a new addition to the e-Report feature: the inclusion of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) consumer protection services.
With this enhancement, the public can now report issues related to online shopping, scams, or misrepresented products directly through the app.
“The newest feature is e-commerce reporting for DTI’s consumer protection,” he said.
“This allows users to report online shopping issues, scams, or misrepresented products. The DTI Consumer Protection Office gets real-time reports and responds promptly,” he added.
The eReport feature also allows users to report scam numbers easily.
By simply taking a screenshot of the suspicious text message along with the sender’s number, users can submit it directly to the government through the eGov App.
eGov App
The eGov PH Super App, launched in June 2023, serves as a one-stop platform for government services in the Philippines, offering a wide array of features.
“The eGov PH App is our Government Super App, designed to unify the numerous government services,” the DICT Undersecretary said.
“Instead of navigating thousands of websites or registering repeatedly on different apps and portals, users can access their information and services all in one place,” he added.
Almirol further explained that the app also aims to make the National ID accessible via mobile.
“Once you have access to your National ID, you can use it for various government services, including PhilHealth, GSIS (Government Service Insurance System), job applications, tourism, agriculture, and even DTI services,” he shared.
Security
As the eGov Super App serves as a gateway to various government agency systems, implementing robust security measures is crucial to protecting sensitive data and maintaining public trust.
To safeguard user information, the eGovPH employs a comprehensive security framework.
This includes industry-standard encryption and authentication protocols, along with advanced technologies like eGovChain and unique data keys.
These measures work together to ensure maximum data protection and uphold the integrity of the platform.
How to download eGov App
To access the eReport system, users need to download the eGov App onto their smartphone or tablet via the App Store or Google Play Store.
Once installed, they must register using their mobile number and authenticate it with a One-Time PIN.
Afterward, users are required to provide basic information and complete the facial recognition process to finalize their registration.
“If you have a National ID, it will automatically verify your identity using AI. Foreigners need to scan their passports,” Almirol said.
“Those without a National ID can upload a valid government-issued ID. Once registered, users can access the many services offered by the app, including the e-report system,” he added.
Moreover, Almirol assured the public of eGov App’s robust security measures.
“The app employs encrypted data and follows a ‘Zero Trust Policy,’ ensuring that information is handled exclusively by the respective government agencies,” he explained.
He added, “For instance, PhilHealth data is managed solely by PhilHealth, and GSIS data is managed by GSIS. No data is stored directly by the DICT. Additionally, the app integrates AI technology to prevent identity fraud.”
