Globe pours ₱26.3B into network expansion, 5G in first half of 2026

Globe invested ₱26.3 billion in capital expenditures in the first half of 2026, with the bulk of the spending going to data and digital infrastructure as demand for faster and more reliable connectivity continued to grow.

The telecommunications company said its capital spending increased 39 percent year-on-year, with around 91 percent allocated to data-related initiatives, including network capacity expansion and service quality improvements.

Capital expenditures during the period accounted for 31 percent of Globe’s service revenues.

Despite the increase in first-half spending, Globe said it remains on track to keep its full-year capital expenditures below $1 billion as it balances network investments with financial discipline.

The company also continued expanding its 5G network, reaching more than 98 percent outdoor population coverage across Metro Manila and key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In non-key cities nationwide, Globe said its 5G footprint now covers at least 80 percent of the population as it extends next-generation connectivity beyond major urban areas.

“Globe’s continued investments in network infrastructure are about more than expanding capacity, they are about delivering a better everyday experience for our customers and ensuring that more Filipinos can benefit from reliable, high-quality connectivity,” Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz said.

“By strengthening our networks and extending our reach, we are helping bridge the digital divide and creating more opportunities for people, families, and communities across the country to participate fully in a more connected future,” he added.

Globe said its infrastructure investments have also resulted in improvements in network performance and customer experience.

Citing Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data covering the second half of 2024 through the first half of 2026, the company said it received consecutive recognitions for mobile network consistency, 5G coverage, and home internet performance.

Globe was recognized as Most Consistent Mobile Provider four consecutive times, Widest Mobile 5G Coverage twice in a row, and Most Consistent Home Internet twice in a row.

The company said it will continue directing investments toward data and network infrastructure as internet usage and demand for faster and more consistent connectivity increase across the country.
