The Pod Network (TPN) has formally terminated its contract with comedy podcast Machong Chismisan, removing the show from its network following public backlash over controversial remarks involving Josh Aquino, the eldest son of television personality Kris Aquino.
In its latest statement, the network confirmed that it had severed ties with the podcast, effective immediately, after initially taking down an episode that drew criticism over remarks about Josh and his disability.

“We have formally terminated our contract with the Machong Chismisan podcast, and are consequently removing the show from the network, effective immediately,” TPN announced.
The decision followed an earlier statement in which the network acknowledged complaints from listeners and apologized for the hurt caused by the controversial episode titled Ang Pagbabalik Ni Kris Aquino.
The controversy erupted after a video clip from the podcast circulated online, showing the hosts discussing Josh and comparing him with his younger brother, Bimby.
One of the hosts, identified as Tito P, reportedly described Josh as “walang kwenta,” drawing criticism from netizens and public personalities over the treatment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in online entertainment.
“We take these concerns seriously. Persons with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals deserve dignity and respect, and that includes how they are talked about on our shows. We are sorry for the hurt this has caused,” the network said in its earlier statement.
TPN initially clarified that its content creators express their own opinions, which do not necessarily represent the network’s position, while acknowledging its responsibility as the platform distributing their content.
“Our creators speak in their own voices, and their views do not reflect those of the network. But as the platform that carries their shows, we should still be mindful of what we share with the public,” it said.
Before announcing the contract termination, the network had confirmed that the controversial episode was removed pending a review of how it was published.

TPN also announced plans to formalize editorial guidelines across its shows, particularly when discussing disability, mental health, minors, family members of public figures, and other sensitive topics.
Meanwhile, television host Boy Abunda condemned the remarks during Wednesday’s episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, describing them as cruel and hurtful to Josh, other persons with disabilities, and their families.
“This is very difficult for me, friends. Because where do I even start? It makes me angry,” Abunda said. ”
Lawyer Carlo Ybanez also weighed in on the controversy, warning that publicly ridiculing persons with disabilities could carry legal consequences under Philippine law.
“GINAWANG KATATAWANAN ANG KAPANSANAN! ALAM BA NINYONG PUWEDENG MAKULONG DIYAN?” Ybanez wrote.
He cited Republic Act No. 9442, which amended the Magna Carta for Persons with Disability and prohibits public ridicule and vilification of PWDs.
According to Ybanez, degrading jokes and remarks targeting individuals because of their disabilities may constitute violations of the law.
He noted that a first violation may carry a fine ranging from ₱50,000 to ₱100,000 and imprisonment of six months to two years.
Ybanez also expressed frustration over the incident, saying he would pursue legal action if he were Josh’s parent.
