Antonelli leads F1’s driver standing as 2026 season heads to Canada

Mercedes has taken early control of the 2026 Formula 1 season, with Kimi Antonelli leading the drivers’ standings before the fifth round in Canada.

Based on the current drivers’ table, Antonelli sits on top with 100 points after the first four rounds, giving Mercedes a strong early advantage in what is shaping up to be a closely watched season. His teammate George Russell follows in second with 80 points, completing a Mercedes one-two at the top of the standings.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is third with 59 points, while McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton are tied at 51 points in fourth and fifth place. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri is sixth with 43 points.

Red Bull Racing, usually among the strongest teams in the field, has Max Verstappen sitting seventh with 26 points. His teammate Isack Hadjar is currently 13th with four points, putting Red Bull under early pressure heading into Canada.

Haas also has points on the board, with Oliver Bearman in eighth place with 17 points and Esteban Ocon in 16th with one point. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly is ninth with 16 points, while Liam Lawson completes the top 10 for Racing Bulls with 10 points.

Further down the standings, Franco Colapinto holds 11th place for Alpine with seven points, followed by Arvid Lindblad of Racing Bulls, Hadjar, Carlos Sainz of Williams, and Gabriel Bortoleto of Audi.

Williams has both drivers in the lower points range, with Sainz at 14th on four points and Alex Albon at 17th with one point. Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg, Cadillac’s Valtteri Bottas, and Cadillac’s Sergio Perez have yet to score points.

The Canadian Grand Prix now becomes an early test of whether Mercedes can protect its lead, Ferrari and McLaren can close the gap, and Red Bull can recover before the season’s momentum shifts further away.
