HUAWEI, Ateneo MBA students explore AI-powered productivity through MatePad collaboration
HUAWEI and the Ateneo Graduate School of Business are strengthening the integration of digital productivity tools in graduate education through a collaboration centered on the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 S 2026, positioning the device as a mobile workstation for MBA students navigating data-heavy academic workloads.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Ateneo Graduate School of Business Student Council during the Strategic Management (STRAMA) Deep Dive sessions, where students were introduced to the MatePad’s productivity-focused ecosystem designed to support complex analysis, decision-making, and graduate-level collaboration.
Held on April 11 and April 25 at the APS Amphitheater of Ateneo de Manila University’s Rockwell Campus, the STRAMA Deep Dive sessions gathered around 60 onsite MBA students and approximately 100 online participants per session.
During the event, HUAWEI showcased the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 S 2026 through an interactive booth that allowed students to test features aimed at improving productivity, workflow flexibility, and digital organization.
John Carlo Capanas, Vice President for External Affairs of the AGSB Student Council, said the experience highlighted how tightly integrated hardware and software ecosystems can improve workflow efficiency for graduate students.
“HUAWEI’s commitment to innovation is reflected in how the device integrates both hardware and software,” Capanas said. “After using the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 S 2026, I gained a better appreciation for how they design products for productivity. Everything, from the display to the accessories to the apps, works together to create a more efficient workflow.”
A key part of the collaboration focused on demonstrating how tablets are increasingly being positioned as alternatives to traditional laptops in academic and professional environments.
According to HUAWEI, the MatePad’s PC-Level WPS Office 3.0 enabled students to process datasets, manage spreadsheets, and draft documents using desktop-style productivity tools while remaining mobile.
The setup also included the HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard, M-Pencil (3rd Gen), and Bluetooth mouse, forming what the company describes as a “4-in-1 productivity ecosystem” designed to replicate a PC-like workspace experience.
Christian Jerome De Guzman, Officer-in-Charge for the AGSB Student Council’s Finance and Resource Management Committee, said the device addressed limitations often associated with mobile productivity platforms.
“As an MBA student, ‘Lite’ versions of software just don’t cut it,” De Guzman said. “WPS Office 3.0 is a game-changer because it provides a PC-level experience. When I’m analyzing market trends or writing my thesis, I have the full power of desktop-grade tools.”
Beyond productivity, HUAWEI also emphasized the MatePad’s display technology and note-taking ecosystem as tools aimed at reducing cognitive and visual fatigue during extended study sessions.
The tablet features an 11.5-inch 2.8K Ultra-Clear 3rd Gen PaperMatte Display that combines anti-glare technology and 3A+ glass designed to block 99 percent of ambient light interference while reducing screen sparkle by 50 percent, creating a more paper-like reading experience.
Mary Jazel Louise Espiritu, AGSB Student Council Treasurer, said the display helped improve comfort during long reading sessions.
“The PaperMatte Display is something I didn’t realize I needed until I experienced it,” Espiritu said. “There’s less glare and eye strain, so I can focus longer — especially when going through heavy readings or reviewing documents late at night.”
The MatePad also integrates features such as HUAWEI Notes, AI Equation Recognition, AI handwriting enhancement, and the GoPaint app, which the company says can support both structured academic work and creative problem-solving.
HUAWEI added that the device was designed to support all-day academic and professional use through its ultra-thin 6.1 mm design and 8,800 mAh battery, while also functioning as an entertainment device through its 2.8K display and multi-driver speaker system.
“For me, the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 S 2026 is really about making things more manageable,” Capanas said. “As a graduate student, there are a lot of demands. So having a device that helps you stay organized, productive, and focused makes a real difference.”
The HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 S 2026 is priced at PHP 29,999 and comes bundled with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard, M-Pencil (3rd Gen), and Bluetooth mouse.
