Philippine Airlines (PAL) has taken another major step in modernizing its long-haul fleet with the arrival of its first Airbus A350-1000, marking the first deployment of the aircraft type in Southeast Asia.

The widebody jet touched down in Manila after its delivery flight from Toulouse, France, receiving a ceremonial water cannon salute on the runway—an honor reserved for milestone aviation events.

The arrival was met with applause from plane spotters and members of the local aviation community, underscoring the significance of the moment for both PAL and the region’s airline industry.

The aircraft is the first of nine Airbus A350-1000s scheduled for delivery to PAL, reinforcing the flag carrier’s push toward more fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft.

The A350-1000 is known for its advanced aerodynamics, quieter engines, and long-range capability, allowing airlines to operate nonstop intercontinental routes with improved passenger comfort and lower emissions.

The airline said first commercial flights using the A350-1000 will be announced soon, giving passengers an early opportunity to experience the newest addition to its fleet.

The arrival also highlights growing interest in aviation among Filipino plane spotters and enthusiasts, many of whom documented the event on the ground.
