As Filipinos prepare to visit their loved ones’ resting places this Undas, GCash, in coordination with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), is reminding the public to stay alert—not only on the road, but also online.

“As we commemorate this season of remembering our departed loved ones, digital safety remains a top priority. GCash continues to strengthen its systems and educate users to recognize and avoid scams, especially spoofing,” said Miguel Geronilla, GCash Chief Information Security Officer.

Spoofing, a common tactic during long holidays, involves scammers disguising themselves as legitimate institutions such as GCash through fake text messages, emails, or social media pages to trick users into revealing personal information.

GCash advises the public to never click suspicious links or share sensitive details such as OTPs, MPINs, or account credentials. Fraudsters may pose as GCash agents offering “account verification” or “cashback” promos, but the platform stressed that GCash will never ask for these details.

Users are also urged to be cautious of fake Facebook pages or Messenger accounts imitating GCash. The only verified page is GCash Official, marked with a blue check.

If a message or link appears suspicious—especially those claiming to fix account issues—users are advised to ignore them and instead open the official GCash app directly to verify any transaction.

Individuals who encounter scams are encouraged to report incidents immediately through official hotlines and channels. The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group can be reached at (02) 8414-1560 or 0998-598-8116, or via email at acg@pnp.gov.ph.

The CICC may also be contacted through its national hotline at 1326, mobile number 0991-481-4225, or email at report@cicc.gov.ph.

GCash users may report suspected fraudulent activities via the official Help Center at help.gcash.com by messaging Gigi and selecting “I want to report a scam,” or by calling the GCash hotline at 2882 for assistance.

For cybersecurity updates and safety reminders, visit the official pages of the PNP-ACG and GCash at www.facebook.com/anticybercrimegroup and www.gcash.com. By staying informed and vigilant, Filipinos can safely honor their loved ones this Undas—free from online scams.
