Smart brings clearer, app-free video calls to Filipinos

Smart Communications has unveiled Video Calls powered by Video over LTE (ViLTE), a new feature that lets subscribers make high-quality video calls without downloading any apps.

With ViLTE, calling becomes more personal and immersive — as simple as dialing a number, but with video. It’s charged like a regular voice call, so those with active unlimited call promos such as Unli 5G+ or PowerAll for Smart and SurfSaya for TNT can enjoy virtually unlimited video calls. The receiver doesn’t even need a promo, as long as the caller has one.

Unlike app-based calls, ViLTE is built into the network itself. That means clearer conversations, stronger stability even in crowded areas, and longer battery life.

Users can also multitask — browsing, streaming, or using apps — while staying connected face-to-face.

The innovation builds on Smart’s earlier rollout of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in 2020, which gave subscribers crisp voice calls over LTE. ViLTE takes this a step further, adding video to the experience while riding on Smart’s expanding 4G and 5G coverage nationwide.

“With ViLTE, we are enhancing everyday communication by empowering our customers with a clearer and more immersive way to connect,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP at Smart.

To enjoy ViLTE, subscribers just need to enable VoLTE and ViLTE in their phone settings, update to the latest software, and use a supported smartphone model from top brands like Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Infinix, Tecno, Itel, and ZTE. The feature also works on WiFi.
