Ever read back your ChatGPT replies and thought, “Hmm… that doesn’t sound like me at all”? OpenAI’s latest update fixes that.

Now, ChatGPT can match your tone, style, and personality—so when it writes, it finally sounds like you.

The company rolled out new features designed to make ChatGPT feel more personal and in tune with a user’s own voice.

CEO Sam Altman announced the changes on X (formerly Twitter), saying the new setup put everything—personality settings, custom instructions, and memory—into one place.

“We have updated ChatGPT’s personalization page: personality configuration, custom instructions, and memories are now all in one place. Going live over the next couple of days,” said Altman

In the update, there is now a section under “ChatGPT personality” where users can choose and set the style and tone ChatGPT uses when responding.

They can select from options such as “cheerful and adaptive,” “critical and sarcastic,” “efficient and blunt,” “thoughtful and supportive,” or “exploratory and enthusiastic.”

Users are also given a dedicated space under “custom instructions” where they can describe themselves more specifically. This allows the tool to adjust its responses based on the details they provide.
