OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and Microsoft have taken a step toward expanding their long-standing collaboration with the signing of a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU).

“OpenAI and Microsoft have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the next phase of our partnership,” OpenAI confirmed.

“We are actively working to finalize contractual terms in a definitive agreement. Together, we remain focused on delivering the best AI tools for everyone, grounded in our shared commitment to safety,” it said.

The move underscores Microsoft’s deepening ties with OpenAI, following its multibillion-dollar investments in the AI company since 2019.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal recently reported that OpenAI has entered into a five-year, USD 300 billion cloud deal with Oracle.

It is an American multinational technology company founded in 1977 that provides enterprise software, cloud computing services, and hardware systems.

The deal is expected to significantly bolster OpenAI’s infrastructure capacity as it scales its AI models.
