Globe Telecom and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have formalized a two-year partnership to intensify the country’s defenses against scams, fraud, and other ICT-enabled crimes, setting a new benchmark for industry–government collaboration on digital trust and consumer protection.

The agreement, signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishes a Collaborative Framework for Fraud Prevention and Investigation, bringing Globe and DICT into closer coordination with attached agencies, including the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the National Privacy Commission (NPC), and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

The initiative strengthens ongoing efforts to curb identity theft, phishing, and SMS-based scams, which continue to target Filipinos in the digital space.

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda stressed that partnerships between government and the private sector are vital in building a safer digital ecosystem.

“Connectivity should not be an afterthought, but a built-in part of how we design and build the future. With partners like Globe, I am confident that we are taking bold steps toward a future where every Filipino, wherever they may be, is connected and empowered. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to collective action against fraud and the protection of our people online,” Aguda said.

Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz echoed this commitment, emphasizing that consumer trust is at the core of digital growth.

“At Globe, we believe that connectivity must go hand in hand with safety and trust. This partnership with DICT strengthens our collective defenses against fraudsters who exploit digital channels. By combining our resources, intelligence, and expertise with that of the government, we are creating stronger shields for Filipinos and ensuring that technology remains a force for good,” Cruz said.

The MOU is effective immediately and will run for two years, with provisions for renewal. Both Globe and DICT pledged to conduct regular reviews to ensure the framework adapts to evolving cyber threats.

With this collaboration, Globe and DICT aim to set a model for industry–government cooperation in securing digital platforms, protecting citizens, and promoting greater trust in technology.
