TP-Link unveils Wi-Fi 8 lineup led by Archer, Deco systems

TP-Link Systems Inc. has unveiled what it describes as the world’s first complete Wi-Fi 8 product lineup, introducing new routers and mesh systems designed to improve connection reliability, coverage and performance as more devices compete for bandwidth inside homes.

The lineup, showcased at IFA 2026, is led by the Archer 8 Ultra router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh Wi-Fi system, both built around the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard.

TP-Link said it will reveal full details of its Wi-Fi 8 lineup during a global online launch on Sept. 30, 2026, when regional pre-orders for the Archer 8 Ultra are also expected to begin in select markets.

Wi-Fi 8 focuses on reliability

While newer Wi-Fi generations have traditionally highlighted higher speeds, TP-Link said Wi-Fi 8 is also being developed to address common connectivity issues such as weak signals at the edges of homes, network congestion and interference.

At the center of its new products is the Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine, which TP-Link said is designed to strengthen coverage, manage congestion and reduce interference.

The technology incorporates Enhanced Long Range (ELR) and Distributed Resource Units (DRU), which are intended to improve coverage and uplink performance for distant and low-power devices.

Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA), meanwhile, is designed to help networks remain responsive when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.

The system also uses Unequal Modulation (UEQM) and new Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCS) to maintain more consistent throughput under challenging interference conditions.

TP-Link said its upcoming Wi-Fi 8 products will use chipsets from Broadcom, Qualcomm and MediaTek.

Up to 22 Gbps for Deco

The Archer 8 Ultra BN19000, also known as the Archer BN800, is a tri-band Wi-Fi 8 router capable of delivering up to 19 Gbps in aggregate wireless speeds and 10 Gbps through wired connectivity.

It features 18 internal high-performance antennas designed to provide more consistent coverage throughout a home.

The Deco 8 Ultra BN22000, or Deco BN85, is a tri-band Wi-Fi 8 mesh system capable of delivering up to 22 Gbps in aggregate wireless speeds and 10 Gbps wired connectivity.

According to TP-Link, a three-unit Deco 8 Ultra system can cover up to 9,800 square feet and support more than 200 connected devices.

TP-Link is also changing the physical design of its networking equipment, aiming to make routers more suitable for placement in visible and central areas of the home rather than being hidden away.

“We stopped building a piece of networking equipment and started designing for the home,” said Gary Chang, who leads industrial design at TP-Link’s Irvine headquarters. “When a router’s design becomes something people want to display, it ends up exactly where it performs best.”

The Archer 8 Ultra adopts a minimalist design with internal antennas, a dual-tone grille and an emissive status light instead of the multiple indicator LEDs commonly found on routers.

The Deco 8 Ultra retains the compact form associated with TP-Link’s Deco series, combining a matte body with a glossy upper section.

The Archer 8 Ultra is scheduled to become available for pre-order in select regions beginning Sept. 30.

TP-Link plans to expand its Wi-Fi 8 portfolio with the Deco 8 mesh system in the first quarter of 2027, followed by the Roam 8 travel router, Wi-Fi 8 range extenders and adapters in the second quarter.

The company noted that availability, specifications and launch schedules may vary by region and remain subject to change.
