‘May Point ’Yan!’ McDonald’s turns everyday orders into digital rewards

For many Filipinos, a quick McDonald’s stop can be as simple as grabbing fries on the way home, ordering coffee before work, or treating the family to a weekend meal. But with its digital rewards program, the fast-food chain wants those everyday moments to count for something more.

That idea is at the center of McDonald’s Philippines’ “May Point ’Yan!” campaign as MyMcDonald’s Rewards marks its first anniversary this August.

Launched in 2025 through the McDonald’s App, the digital loyalty program allows customers to earn points from eligible purchases and redeem them for food items, merchandise and selected experiences.

Rather than limiting the app to ordering and payments, McDonald’s is using the rewards program to encourage customers to interact with the brand across more of their regular visits.

“Value is not only about giving customers more for their money—it is also about recognizing every time they choose McDonald’s,” said Katrina Lee-Chua, McDonald’s Philippines Assistant Vice President for Strategy & Insights and Digital.

“That belief shaped MyMcDonald’s Rewards from the beginning. We created a program that turns everyday McDonald’s moments into something more meaningful, where every visit, order, and point reflects how much we value our customers’ loyalty,” Lee-Chua added.

For its anniversary, McDonald’s is adding another layer to the experience through MyMcDonald’s Rewards Missions inside the app.

Members who complete the missions can earn bonus points faster, giving customers another way to work toward their preferred rewards rather than relying solely on points earned from purchases.

One of the anniversary rewards is a limited-edition McDo Denim Jacket, which members can redeem beginning Aug. 17 for 1,200 points at 30 participating McDonald’s stores nationwide, while supplies last.

The company is also refreshing its rewards portfolio with more redemption options and introducing a micro-drama series featuring Filipino stories built around different MyMcDonald’s Rewards moments.

For customers, the proposition remains straightforward: buy something they may already be planning to order, scan their rewards QR code and earn points along the way.

“This anniversary is both a celebration of how far MyMcDonald’s Rewards has come and a renewed commitment to what lies ahead,” Lee-Chua said.

Customers can join by downloading the McDonald’s App, creating an account and scanning their MyMcDonald’s Rewards QR code during eligible purchases.

A year into the program, “May Point ’Yan!” also reflects how loyalty is becoming increasingly digital. What used to be a physical stamp card or occasional coupon is now built into the same smartphone customers use to order, pay and decide what to eat.

And for McDonald’s customers, even an ordinary burger-and-fries run can now come with one more question: may point ’yan?
