eGovPH Hackathon wraps technical evaluation, Top 30 finalists to be announced soon

The eGovPH Hackathon 2026 has completed the technical evaluation of participating teams, moving the competition closer to selecting projects that could eventually be integrated into the eGovPH app.

DICT Undersecretary for E-Government David Almirol said the evaluation covered two weeks of one-on-one technical meetings and live system presentations, with teams demonstrating how their solutions use eGov application programming interfaces or APIs.

“After two weeks of 1-on-1 technical meetings and live system presentations of eGov API use cases, we have thoroughly evaluated all entries based on the given criteria,” Almirol said.

A total of 52 teams underwent technical evaluation by the eGov team.

Almirol said the scores will be posted soon on the new eGovHackathon website, while the Top 30 finalists will also be announced soon with each finalist set to receive ₱100,000.

From the Top 30, five winners will be selected to work with the DICT E-Government Office and integrate their proposed features into the eGovPH app.

“From there, 5 winners will be chosen to partner with the DICT E-Government Office and integrate their features into the eGovPH app,” Almirol said.

The eGovPH Hackathon was held on July 21 and 22 at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, bringing together developers and innovators to build practical digital solutions that can improve access to government services.

Recently, the DICT acknowledged problems encountered during the first eGov Hackathon and pledged to improve its registration, judging, procurement and evaluation processes as it prepares to continue working with participating developers.

More than just a competition, the hackathon is designed to give promising solutions a path toward actual government use by allowing teams to build around existing eGovPH systems and APIs.

“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagparticipate. Let’s continue to build solutions to bring government services closer to the people,” Almirol said.
