OPPO, Discovery, and DOT launch short film highlighting T’boli culture of Lake Sebu

OPPO has partnered with Discovery and the Department of Tourism (DOT) to release a short film featuring the T’boli community of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

The film is part of Discovery’s Culture in a Shot program under its 2025 theme Celebrate the Moment. After being featured in 15 countries and regions, the project now turns its attention to the Philippines, offering a respectful portrayal of T’boli artistry, creativity, and daily life.

“At OPPO, we believe technology should go beyond convenience. It should empower communities and preserve heritage. This partnership with Discovery and the Department of Tourism allows us to do just that,” said Joanarc Sales, Associate Marketing Director of OPPO Philippines.

The collaboration highlights living traditions that define the T’boli’s cultural identity, from the sacred art of T’nalak weaving, guided by the spirit Fu Dalu, to the symbolic brasswork of Sesotunawa.

Production was coordinated with DOT Region XII and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, with activities carried out under the free, prior, and informed consent of T’boli elders to ensure cultural accuracy and respect.

Shot entirely on the OPPO Reno14 Series 5G, the film demonstrates the smartphone’s advanced imaging technology, including ultra-clear low-light performance, handheld stability, and faithful color reproduction.

These features helped preserve fine textures and details without the need for heavy equipment, blending innovation with cultural advocacy.

The short film will be showcased on the 3D billboard at One Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City, inviting the public to immerse themselves in the T’boli’s story.

OPPO is also encouraging audiences to participate in online challenges that celebrate both the film and Filipino culture.

Visitors can take creative photos with the 3D billboard and share them on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok using the hashtags #OPPOLovesThePhilippines, #OPPOReno14Series5G, #MakeYourMoment, #OPPOxDiscovery, and #OPPOCultureChallenge for a chance to be featured and win a Glossy Pink OPPO Reno14 F 5G.

In addition, Filipinos are invited to post photos or videos that showcase the culture, places, and people of their hometowns. Selected entries may inspire future cultural features in partnership with OPPO, Discovery, and the Department of Tourism.

Through this collaboration, OPPO and its partners hope to preserve and amplify the beauty of the T’boli’s living heritage while inspiring Filipinos to celebrate the diversity of their own communities.
