Globe pushes early connectivity planning for future-ready developments
Globe Telecom is urging property developers to integrate telecommunications infrastructure into the early stages of planning and construction to prevent costly redesigns and ensure reliable internet connectivity in residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
The telecommunications company emphasized that connectivity should be treated as an essential component of building design rather than an infrastructure requirement addressed only after construction has begun.
During its Collaboration Forum 2026, Globe gathered around 150 participants, including more than 100 external partners from the property sector, to discuss how telecommunications infrastructure can be incorporated into development masterplans.
Held under the theme βDesign Today. Connect Tomorrow,β the forum brought together property developers, architects, designers, and technical teams to explore ways to make new developments ready for growing digital demands.
βThe earlier we bring those perspectives together, the better we can plan for what comes next. While the plans are still being shaped, let us sit down together and determine what needs to be built in from the start, with enough flexibility to evolve over time,β Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz said.
Globe explained that incorporating connectivity requirements during the design phase allows developers to identify potential infrastructure constraints before construction plans are finalized.
This approach can help prevent expensive retrofitting while ensuring that residents, tenants, and businesses have access to reliable telecommunications services from the first day of occupancy.
The initiative also aligns with Globe’s support for the government’s ongoing review of the National Building Code of the Philippines.
The company has been advocating for the inclusion of telecommunications infrastructure in building standards, particularly fiber-ready facilities and in-building connectivity solutions.
According to Globe, recognizing connectivity as an essential utility in modern developments could help establish infrastructure requirements that support reliable internet access and future technological advancements.
As homes, workplaces, and communities become increasingly dependent on digital services, Globe stressed that telecommunications infrastructure must be incorporated into long-term development planning.
The company said early coordination among developers, architects, technical teams, and connectivity providers would allow properties to accommodate emerging technologies and increasing demand for digital services.
Through Collaboration Forum 2026, Globe aims to strengthen its partnerships with the property sector and encourage developers to make connectivity a fundamental consideration in building future-ready communities.
