Women in Security Alliance Philippines (WiSAP) is pushing for a stronger role for women in cybersecurity as the country accelerates its digital transformation and strengthens digital governance.
WiSAP Founder and President Mel MigriΓ±o, who is also General Manager and Country Head of Gogolook Philippines, said women are playing an increasingly important role in protecting digital systems while helping shape the countryβs broader digital transformation agenda.
βAs we observe International Women in Cyber Day, we celebrate the women who are driving digital transformation and strengthening cybersecurity and digital governance across the Philippines,β MigriΓ±o said.
She said women are contributing across government and industry, from protecting critical systems and digital services to advancing innovation and helping build a safer and more citizen-centered digital ecosystem.
MigriΓ±o stressed that increasing the participation of women in cybersecurity should go beyond representation.
βEmpowering women in cybersecurity is not only a matter of representation. It is a strategic imperative for national development,β she said.
She added that diverse perspectives can strengthen institutions, improve decision-making and help ensure that innovations respond to the needs of a wider segment of society.
βDiverse perspectives make our institutions stronger, our innovations more responsive, and our digital future more resilient,β MigriΓ±o said.
WiSAP has been advocating greater participation and leadership of women in cybersecurity as the Philippines faces increasingly complex online threats and a growing need for stronger digital trust and resilience.
MigriΓ±o called for sustained efforts to give more Filipinas opportunities to develop cybersecurity skills and take on leadership roles in technology, security and digital governance.
βToday, let us honor the achievements of women in cyber and recommit ourselves to fostering an environment where more Filipinas can lead, innovate, and serve at the forefront of our nationβs digital transformation journey,β she said.
βA secure digital Philippines is a future that women are helping build every day.β
