Scam Watch Pilipinas partners with ASEAN Foundation for ‘Scam Ready ASEAN’ program

Scam Watch Pilipinas has partnered with the ASEAN Foundation to serve as the local implementing partner of the Scam Ready ASEAN Programme in the Philippines.

Supported by Google.org, Scam Ready ASEAN is a regional initiative that seeks to strengthen digital resilience by helping communities recognize and respond to online scams, including emerging threats powered by artificial intelligence.

The program combines structured training, public awareness campaigns, community-based learning activities, and the “Be Scam Ready” game to equip participants with practical knowledge for identifying scams and making safer decisions online.

As the program’s Philippine implementing partner, Scam Watch Pilipinas will lead community education, training, awareness initiatives, and grassroots engagement across the country.

Scam Watch Pilipinas is set to work with schools, local government units, barangays, community organizations, senior citizen groups, and other partners to make scam-prevention education more accessible to Filipino communities.

“This partnership forms part of Scam Watch Pilipinas’ broader Whole-of-Organization Approach, which brings together the capabilities, networks, and resources of different institutions to build a more coordinated response to scams,” said Jocel de Guzman of Scam Watch Pilipinas.

“By working with partners at the regional, national, and community levels, we can bring practical scam-prevention education closer to more Filipinos and help create communities that are better prepared to recognize and respond to online threats,” de Guzman added.

The Philippine implementation will also train community educators who can bring scam-awareness lessons to their respective schools, organizations, and communities, allowing the program’s reach to extend beyond its initial activities.

Through the partnership, Scam Watch Pilipinas and the ASEAN Foundation aim to help more Filipinos recognize scams, protect themselves online, and look out for others in their communities.
