2GO brings Cebu businesses together to tackle connectivity gaps in trade, tourism

For businesses moving goods in and out of Cebu, better connectivity can mean the difference between delayed deliveries and reaching customers on time. For travelers, it can mean easier access to destinations. And for local enterprises, stronger transport links could open opportunities beyond their immediate markets.

These concerns took center stage as transportation and logistics firm 2GO brought together members of Cebu’s business community, industry representatives and government officials to discuss how stronger connections could support trade, tourism and economic growth across Central Visayas.

The forum, organized in partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and in coordination with the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev) Region VII, focused on the region’s economic outlook and the role of supply chains and transportation networks in connecting businesses and travelers.

For 2GO, the discussions were also an opportunity to hear directly from enterprises about the challenges they face.

“We want to hear your pain points and identify your areas of growth so we can co-create solutions together,” 2GO Marketing Business Unit Head Ethel Concepcion said.

CCCI President Regan Rex King said stronger connectivity could have a direct impact on how businesses operate and how easily people can reach tourism destinations.

“When connectivity improves, businesses can move products faster and more efficiently. Tourism destinations become more accessible, supply chains build resilience, and new markets open,” King said.

“A stronger Cebu requires stronger connections, and those links begin with meaningful cross-sector alignment.”

The issue is becoming increasingly important as Central Visayas continues to expand its economy and infrastructure.

DEPDev Region VII Assistant Regional Director Evelyn Nacario-Castro said Central Visayas was the country’s fourth-largest regional economy in 2025 and is moving toward a more diversified and interconnected economy.

She also highlighted plans for modernized transit and freight infrastructure, including 90 strategic high-impact projects scheduled in 2027.

For smaller businesses, improved logistics networks could provide wider access to customers and suppliers, while stronger passenger links could support tourism establishments that depend on the movement of visitors across Cebu and nearby destinations.

The forum also featured an executive panel on “Strengthening Connectivity for Tourism, Trade, and Regional Growth,” with King and 2GO executives Francis John Chua of Travel, Faye Allonzo of Forwarding and Sharon Musngi-Ngo of Sea Solutions.

2GO said it plans to continue working with businesses, government agencies and trade organizations as it expands transportation and logistics connections across Central Visayas.
