LG debuts UltraGear Evo, bringing on-device 5K AI upscaling to next-gen gaming monitors
- LG
LG Electronics has introduced UltraGear evo™, a new premium gaming monitor line built around 5K-and-above displays and powered by what the company describes as the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling technology.
Positioned as a next-generation evolution of its UltraGear portfolio, the UltraGear evo lineup centers on ultra-high resolution panels spanning OLED, New MiniLED, and ultra-wide formats. LG said the series is designed to eliminate the traditional trade-offs between brightness, contrast, speed, and screen size — a balancing act that has long defined the high-end gaming display market.
At the core of the announcement is LG’s 5K AI Upscaling, an on-device artificial intelligence solution that enhances content in real time without requiring GPU upgrades.
Unlike software-based scaling tied to graphics cards, LG’s approach operates directly within the monitor, aiming to deliver sharper visuals and improved clarity across supported content.
Leading the lineup is the 39GX950B, a 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor equipped with AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound.
The display also features Dual Mode, allowing users to toggle between 5K resolution at 165Hz and a high-speed 330Hz setting for competitive gameplay.
For MiniLED enthusiasts, LG unveiled the 27GM950B, described as the world’s first 5K New MiniLED gaming monitor. It integrates 2,304 local dimming zones and Zero Optical Distance technology to reduce blooming and improve contrast precision. Like its OLED sibling, it supports 5K AI Upscaling and Dual Mode performance of up to 330Hz.
The company also introduced the 52G930B, billed as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. The 52-inch display carries a 240Hz refresh rate and a panoramic 12:9 viewing format, paired with a 1000R curvature designed to wrap around the user’s field of view for a more immersive experience.
Rounding out the announcement, LG confirmed the global rollout of the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B), a 27-inch QHD Tandem OLED gaming monitor capable of a 540Hz refresh rate. The model also supports Dual Mode, targeting esports players who prioritize ultra-high frame rates.
The UltraGear evo series showcased at CES 2026 through an interactive “Dream Setup” installation and a racing simulation experience powered by the new 39-inch OLED model.
With the introduction of AI-driven upscaling and expanded 5K formats, LG is signaling an aggressive push into the ultra-premium gaming display segment — where resolution, refresh rate, and intelligent processing are increasingly converging.
