PLDT Enterprise deepens satellite connectivity push as Starlink services scale nationwide
PLDT Enterprise is sustaining the expansion of satellite-enabled connectivity across the country, building on its 2025 rollout of Starlink services that positioned it as the first and only telecommunications unit in the Philippines to become an authorized Starlink reseller for both public and private sector use.
Since its launch, the service has already been deployed and actively used by government agencies and enterprise clients, including the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur and SMS Global Technologies Inc., supporting mission-critical operations and enabling digital services in communities with limited or no access to traditional connectivity. These deployments have played a role in strengthening communications for education, healthcare, disaster response, and essential public services in geographically isolated and disaster-prone areas.
As the corporate business arm of PLDT Inc., PLDT Enterprise has been integrating Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite technology into its broader portfolio of enterprise-grade connectivity solutions. This approach allows organizations operating in hard-to-reach locations to maintain reliable internet access even where fiber and terrestrial wireless infrastructure remain limited or vulnerable to disruption.
“Within a year of deployment, Starlink has reached customers across the public sector, agriculture, banking, and other key industries — underscoring the accelerating adoption of satellite connectivity as a practical, enterprise-grade solution, particularly in underserved locations,” said Blums S. Pineda, senior vice president and head of the Enterprise Business Group at PLDT.
Beyond serving as a primary connectivity option in remote sites, Starlink is also being positioned as a resilient backup solution for mission-critical operations. Pineda noted that the satellite service is not offered as a standalone product, but as part of a fully managed, end-to-end connectivity ecosystem under PLDT Enterprise. This includes integration with fiber, wireless networks, managed SD-WAN, cybersecurity services, data centers, and cloud solutions, allowing organizations to scale and maintain operational continuity through a single provider.
The satellite initiative forms part of the PLDT Group’s broader strategy to expand digital access nationwide through multiple, complementary technologies. Within the group, different satellite solutions are being developed to address specific requirements across sectors such as logistics, energy, banking, agriculture, education, healthcare, disaster response, and public service delivery, where high availability and network resilience are critical.
By combining satellite connectivity with the country’s most extensive digital infrastructure, PLDT Enterprise aims to support organizations that operate beyond the reach of traditional networks, while strengthening the overall resilience of the Philippines’ digital ecosystem.
