Globe and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) have advanced efforts to strengthen digital banking security after completing a Proof of Concept (POC) for Silent Network Authentication (SNA), a next-generation verification method designed to reduce scams linked to one-time passwords (OTPs) while improving the overall customer experience.
The initiative falls under G Verify, Globe’s portfolio of network-powered verification and anti-fraud solutions that uses real-time network intelligence and secure application programming interfaces (APIs). Through SNA, customers can be authenticated instantly at the network level—without the need for SMS codes or other manual verification steps.
Both companies, part of the Ayala Group, are jointly testing real-time, network-based identity verification that confirms a user’s authenticity directly, helping minimize exposure to fraud while keeping transactions simple and seamless. The collaboration underscores their shared commitment to driving safer digital services that support nation-building and foster trust in online financial transactions.
“Security and simplicity should always go together,” said KD Dizon, Vice President and Head of Globe Business. “Our collaboration with BPI allows us to validate Silent Network Authentication in real-world banking environments, giving Filipinos the confidence to transact safely.”
“At BPI, protecting our clients is central to how we design digital experiences. We constantly seek to uphold the integrity of every customer transaction,” said Alex Seminiano, BPI Chief Technology Officer. “Through this POC, we are testing an advanced authentication approach that fortifies security while staying completely frictionless. This shows our commitment to ensuring clients are at the center of what we do.”
The POC successfully completed technical validation, enabling BPI’s test application to connect directly with Globe’s Network Exposure Platform (NEP). The integration delivers real-time, network-level authentication to verify that the person using the device is the legitimate account owner—without sending text messages or adding extra steps for customers.
Results from the pilot confirm SNA’s technical viability and alignment with GSMA and CAMARA standards, reinforcing Globe’s role in strengthening digital trust and supporting the growth of the Philippines’ digital economy. The collaboration also forms part of Globe’s Open Gateway program, which uses APIs to unlock network capabilities for enterprise partners.
For BPI, the pilot highlights its continued initiatives to explore and test emerging technologies that safeguard the integrity of every transaction. Globe, meanwhile, is engaging other financial institutions and e-commerce platforms to expand the use of network-powered authentication, aiming to create a more connected digital ecosystem where security is embedded into every interaction.
“We are shaping a digital future anchored on trust,” Dizon added. “Silent Network Authentication demonstrates how Globe is harnessing network intelligence and partnerships to deliver simpler and smarter digital experiences for Filipinos.”
Aligned with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ call for more adaptive and future-ready financial security measures, Globe Business, through G Verify, and BPI are helping redefine digital identity and authentication in the country. The POC showcases the strength of their partnership and highlights how innovation and collaboration can help build a safer digital environment for Filipinos and enterprises alike.
