Patricia Hernandez, Globe Compliance and Governance Director.
In partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Rizal-RSM Chapter, the program offers one-on-one legal consultations to qualified beneficiaries, including individuals referred by local government units and non-government organizations, as well as members of the Globe community.
The initiative has reached partner communities in Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Pasig, bringing legal services closer to residents who may face financial or other barriers to seeking professional legal advice.
“Access to legal guidance can make a meaningful difference when people are faced with situations they may not know how to navigate. Through Konek kay Attorney, we want to help people better understand their rights and options, while giving our legal professionals a meaningful way to put their skills in service to others,” said Globe Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President for Legal and Compliance Atty. Marisalve Ciocson-Co.
She said the initiative demonstrates how the company can use its internal expertise and resources to address community needs beyond its telecommunications business.
IBP Rizal-RSM Chapter President Atty. Eric Paul Fetalino also underscored the importance of making legal assistance accessible to communities.
“The law can only fulfill its purpose when people can reach it, understand it, and use it. Through Konek kay Attorney, we bring lawyers closer to communities and show what can happen when the private sector and the legal profession bring their respective strengths together for a common social purpose,” Fetalino said.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, who chairs the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Board, delivered the keynote address during the program’s gathering of representatives from the legal profession, government, and private sector.
Caguioa also joined representatives of Globe and the IBP for a ceremonial signing formalizing their collaboration.
The initiative also highlighted the growing importance of legal awareness in digital spaces through a discussion on online safety, deepfakes, and emerging cyber threats.
The discussion featured actress and advocate Angel Aquino, National Privacy Commission Deputy Commissioner Atty. Juan Paolo Fajardo, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Executive Director Atty. Renato “Aboy” Paraiso, and Globe Legal Counsel Atty. Joseph Malcontento.
Participants discussed emerging digital risks, government initiatives to strengthen online safety, and ways individuals can recognize threats and protect their rights online.
The discussion also reinforced the importance of understanding legal protections as more Filipinos conduct personal, financial, and professional activities through digital platforms.
Konek kay Attorney forms part of Globe’s broader employee volunteerism efforts under Globe of Good, which encourages employees to use their professional skills to support communities.
Through the initiative, the telecommunications company aims to expand access to legal guidance while strengthening partnerships with organizations working to address the needs of underserved Filipinos.
