Samsung appeared to take aim at longtime rival Apple on social media as the iPhone maker unveiled its latest devices, including its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo.
Although Samsung did not directly mention Apple in several of its posts, the timing and wording of the remarks appeared to reference products and features announced during Apple’s Sept. 9 launch event.
“Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers 😉,” Samsung Mobile US posted on X as Apple entered the foldable smartphone category.
The South Korean tech giant also wrote, “So far, so same. #ItsTimeToSwitch,” followed by several other remarks throughout the event.
Before Apple unveiled the Duo, Samsung posted, “Making us wait? Fine. We’ll be over here, folding 3 ways.”
Another post read, “Accessories? It’s giving condiments and no food. #ItsTimeToSwitch.”
Samsung also appeared to poke fun at the presentation, writing, “Was there range? No. Was it exciting? No. Did it happen? Yes. #ItsTimeToSwitch.”
While the posts did not explicitly name Apple, they were published as Apple introduced its latest hardware, including the iPhone Duo.
The remarks came as Apple officially introduced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The device features a 5.4-inch outer display and opens to reveal a 7.6-inch inner display. It is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip.
Samsung has a significant head start in the foldable smartphone market. The company introduced its first foldable smartphone in 2019 and has since expanded its Galaxy Z series.
Samsung’s social media banter also extended to Duolingo after the language-learning platform joked about Apple’s use of the “Duo” name.
“I’m so sorry, @Duolingo. They copied us too #Solidarity,” Samsung replied.
The exchange continued the long-running rivalry between Samsung and Apple, with Samsung appearing to use Apple’s entry into foldable smartphones to highlight its years of experience in the category.
