Huawei MatePad Pro Max packs laptop-style productivity, creative tools into 13.2-inch tablet

Huawei is pushing the tablet closer to laptop territory with the MatePad Pro Max, a large-screen device built around productivity, creative work, entertainment and AI-assisted tasks in a single portable setup.

The 13.2-inch MatePad Pro Max combines a detachable keyboard, stylus support, desktop-style productivity software and Huawei’s creative apps, giving users several ways to shift between work and creative tasks without moving to another device.

At the center of the productivity experience is an upgraded PC-Level WPS Office, alongside WPS AI, which can suggest topics, refine text, extract key points and assist users in creating presentations.

The software also supports collaborative editing through shared links and multiple permission levels, allowing users to work on and synchronize documents across devices.

For multitasking, Huawei’s Live Multitask feature allows three applications to run on screen simultaneously, potentially making it easier to reference documents, attend meetings or move information between apps without repeatedly switching windows.

The MatePad Pro Max measures 4.7 millimeters thick and weighs 499 grams, while the PaperMatte Edition comes in at 509 grams. Huawei said its Cloud Falcon Architecture and full-metal unibody improve the tablet’s bending resistance by 60 percent.

Huawei pairs the tablet with its 439-gram Glide Keyboard, which attaches magnetically and folds with the device in a laptop-style setup. The keyboard also includes a concealed compartment where the M-Pencil Pro can be stored and charged.

Large OLED screen built for work and drawing

The MatePad Pro Max uses a 13.2-inch 3K flexible OLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

Its PaperMatte Edition uses nano-level etching designed to reduce reflections and provide a more paper-like viewing and writing experience. Huawei said the display has a 94-percent screen-to-body ratio, with bezels measuring 3.55 mm.

The larger canvas also plays a central role in Huawei’s pitch to digital artists.

Huawei’s GoPaint app introduces an Intelligent Color Card alongside new Fluid and Splatter brushes. When paired with the M-Pencil Pro, users can sample colors from the physical world and bring them into their digital artwork.

A 50-megapixel True-to-Color rear camera is also included, giving users another way to capture visual references directly from the device.

AI moves into photos and notes

Beyond office applications, Huawei is integrating AI tools into everyday tablet functions.

The updated Gallery app includes AI-powered editing tools that can help users choose preferred facial expressions in group photos and remove unwanted objects or obstructions from images.

Huawei Notes, meanwhile, can convert handwritten notes into cleaner text and assist in solving mathematical equations inside documents.

These features reflect a broader shift among premium tablets, where AI is increasingly being embedded into individual workflows rather than offered only through a standalone chatbot or assistant.

The device is powered by a 10,400 mAh battery, with Huawei claiming up to 14.5 hours of video playback. It also supports 40 W reverse charging.

Huawei is offering the MatePad Pro Max in a Blue PaperMatte Edition with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

The Wi-Fi-only model is priced at P96,999 and is available for pre-order until Aug. 19.

Huawei said pre-order customers can receive up to P39,595 worth of bundled items and services, including the Glide Keyboard, M-Pencil Pro, Bluetooth mouse, WPS Office, a one-year WPS AI membership and a one-year extended warranty.

The company is also offering installment options of up to 24 months through participating credit cards and up to 18 months through Home Credit.
