Apple Pay’s rollout in the Philippines continued to gain momentum after both Visa and Mastercard announced support for the mobile payment service, allowing eligible cardholders to add their cards to Apple Wallet for contactless payments.
In separate announcements on Tuesday, Visa and Mastercard said Apple Pay is now available in the Philippines for supported card issuers.
Visa said eligible Visa cardholders can add their cards to Apple Wallet and use their iPhone for “fast, easy, and secure” payments with a tap. The company noted that availability will initially depend on participating Visa card issuers and advised customers to check with their respective banks for support.
Mastercard also confirmed that Apple Pay is now available for Mastercard users on supported Apple devices, describing the service as an “easy, secure and private” way to make payments.
The announcements follow Apple’s launch of Apple Pay in the Philippines, which enables users to make in-store, in-app, and online purchases using compatible Apple devices without presenting a physical card.
