Smart Communications, Inc. is strengthening its customer education efforts by helping Filipinos recognize online scams, practice safer digital payment habits, and use technology more responsibly.
At its recent Customer Day held at the Smart Store in SM North EDSA Cyberzone, Smart placed the spotlight not only on connectivity but also on digital safety, scam awareness, and responsible online behavior.
The event formed part of Smart’s broader effort to empower customers as digital threats continue to evolve alongside the rapid adoption of mobile services, cashless payments, and online platforms.
Through its SCAMpaign, Smart taught customers how to identify, avoid, and report scams. Participants also learned practical habits for digital payments, including how to protect financial information online and adopt safer cashless transaction practices.
Customers who joined the event also enjoyed exclusive promos on devices and connectivity, while taking part in interactive activities and learning sessions designed to help them stay informed and confident in using digital services.
“This initiative reflects Smart’s broader commitment in ensuring that customers are not only connected but also protected and empowered. We hope that through the Smart Customer Day, they can have fun and learn skills that can help them maximize the use of their mobile devices and safely navigate the online world,” said Brenda M. Dichoso, FVP for Customer Experience at Smart.
Event host, content creator, and Smart brand ambassador Sam YG also emphasized the need for responsible technology use, especially as users face information overload, fake news, and more sophisticated online scams.
“Ang daming scams, fake news, so it’s also good to have these events so that we could properly discuss how to use this privilege, this power properly,” Sam YG said.
“In as much as we are blessed with technology, it’s very important to be vigilant, to check if what we’ve digested is actually true, or baka fake news or scam. While tech is improving, scams are also improving,” he added.
The event also featured a demonstration of Rokid augmented reality glasses, giving customers a firsthand look at how emerging technologies may support productivity, collaboration, and everyday digital experiences.
For long-time Smart subscribers, the event reinforced the role of reliable connectivity in daily life, from work-from-home arrangements to online learning and field work.
“We won’t be staying with Smart for 30 years if we’re not getting the right services. We feel valued as customers,” said Jackie Rose Caez, a long-time Smart subscriber.
Subscriber Jose B. Montalbo, Jr., who frequently works in the field, also cited the importance of dependable connectivity outside Metro Manila.
“That’s exactly the reason why I stick with Smart. Mas maganda ang signal sa probinsya, you have promos na swak na swak,” Montalbo said.
Smart said Customer Day reflects its commitment to go beyond providing mobile services by helping customers become safer, more informed, and more responsible digital users.
“At Smart, we go beyond connectivity by listening to our customers and equipping them with the knowledge to stay safe, informed, and confident in the digital space,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP and co-OIC at Smart.
Smart said more Customer Day events are lined up nationwide as it continues to promote fast and reliable mobile experiences while bringing learning, engagement, and meaningful connections closer to customers.
