Legacy @Twitter account suspended on X

By TechWatch PH Staff

X has suspended the @Twitter account, with the page now displaying a notice stating that the account has been suspended for violating platform rules.

The @Twitter handle had been inactive since before Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter in October 2022. It previously served as the official account of Twitter before the platform was rebranded to X in July 2023.

As of this writing, X has not released any public statement detailing the specific policy violation that led to the suspension. The notice shown on the account is the same standard suspension message used across the platform for accounts taken down for rule violations.

The suspension was noticed by users who visited the legacy handle, with the account no longer accessible and marked as suspended.

The move comes as X continues to distance itself from the Twitter brand following the rebrand, which included changes to the platform’s name, logo, and branding across its apps and services.

X has previously said it enforces its rules using a combination of automated systems and manual reviews.
