OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Health, a new health-focused experience inside ChatGPT designed to help users better understand and manage their personal health using artificial intelligence.

Announced on OpenAI’s official website, ChatGPT Health creates a dedicated space within ChatGPT where health-related conversations are kept separate from other chats. Users can choose to connect wellness apps and upload medical records, allowing the AI to respond with more personalized and context-aware explanations based on their own data.

According to OpenAI, the feature is meant to help users feel more informed and prepared when navigating health decisions, whether that means understanding lab results, preparing questions for a doctor’s appointment, making sense of fitness or nutrition data, or comparing healthcare plans. The company stressed that ChatGPT Health is designed to support users, not replace medical professionals or provide diagnoses.

Privacy is a central part of the rollout. OpenAI said health conversations are handled in a distinct, protected environment, with additional safeguards in place. Data shared through ChatGPT Health will not be used to train models, and users remain in control of what information they choose to connect or remove.

The development of ChatGPT Health involved input from more than 260 physicians across over 60 countries, reflecting OpenAI’s effort to align the tool with real-world healthcare workflows and patient needs. The company noted that health-related questions are already among the most common uses of ChatGPT, with hundreds of millions of such queries asked every week.

ChatGPT Health is rolling out in beta to a limited group of users across ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, starting outside the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. OpenAI said broader availability on web and iOS is expected in the coming months.

With the launch of ChatGPT Health, OpenAI is positioning AI not just as a source of general information, but as a more personal companion that can help users navigate the increasingly complex world of health and wellness—while keeping trust and data protection at the center of the experience.
