The country’s top data center operators have come together to form the Data Center Operators of the Philippines (DCPH) — a landmark alliance that aims to strengthen the Philippines’ position as the next major digital hub of Southeast Asia.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing attended by VITRO Inc., ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines), YCO Cloud, Digital Edge Philippines, Digital Halo, and A-FLOW.
Together, these firms represent a combined 473 megawatts (MW) of IT power capacity and will serve as a unified voice for the Philippine data center industry, driving collaboration across government, telcos, and the energy sector.
Driving digital competitiveness
The DCPH aims to advance infrastructure innovation, ensure renewable and competitively priced power, and advocate for supportive digital policies alongside the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). One of its top priorities is data localization—ensuring that government and citizen data remain stored within the country’s borders.
Neighboring economies such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia have already established strong data localization frameworks, recognizing citizen data as a strategic national asset vital for digital sovereignty and economic resilience.
The alliance believes that similar measures would not only safeguard sensitive data but also attract more AI and cloud investments to the Philippines.
As demand for AI, cloud services, and hyperscale computing continues to surge, the DCPH seeks to future-proof the country’s digital backbone while nurturing local talent to meet the growing technical demand.
