JBL has introduced the BandBox, a new series of AI-powered practice portable speakers designed to redefine how musicians learn, rehearse, and perform.
The lineup features two models, the JBL BandBox Solo and JBL BandBox Trio, both equipped with Stem AI, an on-device technology that separates vocals, guitars, and drums in real time, allowing players to remove or isolate parts from any track.
AI technology for musicians
At the core of the BandBox system is Stem AI, JBL’s proprietary algorithm that performs vocal and instrument separation directly on the speaker without requiring internet or cloud access. This lets musicians instantly mute or highlight specific instruments, creating custom backing tracks for practice, jamming, or performance.
“This is a massive leap forward,” said Grace Koh, General Manager and Vice President for Consumer Audio at Harman Asia Pacific. “The JBL BandBox is the first-ever speaker to feature the revolutionary on-device Stem AI algorithm. It makes practicing, making progress, and jamming with friends or solo easier than you ever thought possible.”
Compact creativity: BandBox Solo
The JBL BandBox Solo is a compact, portable amp designed for solo musicians, singer-songwriters, and home players. It offers one guitar/microphone input, 18W RMS output, and a full-range acoustic design tuned for rich, clear sound.

It integrates classic guitar pedal effects such as phaser, chorus, reverb, and tremolo, plus vintage and modern amp models accessible via the JBL One app. Built-in tools include a tuner, metronome, looper, and drum machine, while a pitch shifter keeps performances in tune.
With Bluetooth 5 connectivity, USB-C recording output, and a headphone jack for silent practice, the Solo doubles as a wireless speaker and audio interface for digital workstations. The large LED pixel screen provides quick visual feedback. Battery life reaches up to six hours, and the unit weighs just 0.53 kg.
Built for bands: BandBox Trio
Designed for collaborative play, the JBL BandBox Trio expands the Solo’s features with a 135W RMS sound system, a 6.5-inch woofer, and two 25 mm silk-dome tweeters for broader coverage and more dynamic output.
The Trio includes a four-channel mixer, microphone effects (reverb and delay), and multiple instrument inputs ideal for small groups or duos. Musicians can balance sound, apply effects, and control levels via both the device’s LCD color display and the JBL One app.
It also carries JBL’s signature suite of practice tools—tuner, metronome, looper, and drum machine—and supports USB-C recording. With a 10-hour battery life and a replaceable JBL Battery 400 pack, users can extend sessions by swapping power units mid-rehearsal. The 6.65 kg unit can also serve as a monitor speaker when linked to PA systems.
Availability and Pricing
The JBL BandBox Solo will be available in the Philippines starting November for ₱16,499, while the BandBox Trio will follow soon at P34,999. Both models will be sold through JBL.com.ph and authorized retailers nationwide.
JBL emphasizes that AI-powered stem separation is intended for non-commercial use and encourages users to respect applicable copyright terms.
A new era of smart practice
By merging powerful AI processing, JBL Pro Sound, and musician-focused tools, the BandBox line positions itself as both a practice partner and performance amp, catering to a generation of artists who demand flexibility, simplicity, and portability.
