Globe provides relief, restores services after STY Nando; steps up response as Typhoon Opong strikes

By TechWatch PH

Globe has completed full restoration of services in areas battered by Super Typhoon Nando while moving swiftly to address the impact of Typhoon Opong, which has disrupted connectivity across parts of South Luzon and the Visayas.

The company reported that connectivity has been fully restored in all 109 municipalities affected by Nando, covering 15 provinces and 276 cities and municipalities across North Luzon.

Globe’s field teams worked round the clock to address outages caused by widespread power and transmission disruptions.

Relief operations were also carried out in Cagayan and Ilocos Norte, where Globe, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger (RAH), delivered 600 ready-to-eat meal packs to Brgy. Pasaleng in Pagudpud and Brgy. Paddaya in Aparri.

Thirteen Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging (LTLC) stations were also set up during the height of the storm to help residents reconnect with their families.

As recovery concludes in the north, Globe is now responding to Typhoon Opong, which has hit 16 provinces—five in South Luzon and eleven across the Visayas—with Camarines Sur and Samar among the hardest-hit areas.

In South Luzon, services were disrupted in 108 municipalities, with 30 reporting outages due to power and transmission issues.

“We continue to give our #AlagangGlobe to restore services and bring communities back online,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We remain committed to showing up with urgency, empathy, and care where it matters most.”

Globe teams are currently coordinating with power utilities and local government units to bring services back as quickly and safely as possible.

Standby Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging stations are also being readied for deployment in affected areas.

The company assured the public that updates on restoration and relief activities will be provided regularly through GlobeICON social media channels as the situation develops.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Severe Tropical Storm Opong made its second landfall in Palanas, Masbate on Friday morning, which led to its weakening.
