New smartphone series debuts ‘Iridescent Mermaid Design,’ ‘Seamless Glass Build’

OPPO, one of the leading global smart device brand, has launched its latest Reno14 Series, introducing a new “Iridescent Mermaid Design” that blends fashion-inspired aesthetics with advanced smartphone engineering.

The design draws inspiration from the global “Mermaidcore” trend, reflecting ocean-inspired hues and shimmering finishes.

According to OPPO, the effect was achieved through an “Iridescent Glow Process,” which involves stacking 12 microscopic layers—twice as many as previous models—and polishing them five times to produce a color-shifting finish.

In addition to the new back cover, the Reno14 Series also features a Gradient Aura Design on its camera module, softening its visual presence with a flowing, colorful finish.

The Iridescent Mermaid Design is available on the Opal White Reno14 5G and Reno14 Pro 5G, and the Opal Blue Reno14 F 5G.

The Reno14 and Reno14 Pro also debut a unibody “One-piece Sculpted Glass” back, created through a 65-step process using CNC machining, polishing, etching, and chemical strengthening.

The glass is reinforced with aerospace-grade aluminum and offers IP66, IP68, and IP69 water and dust resistance, enabling features such as underwater photography without an additional case.

OPPO also introduced “Velvet Glass” on select models, a finish designed to mimic the soft texture of fabric rather than traditional glass.

The effect is produced by etching over 10 million micro-crystals and refining the surface through more than 30 rounds of testing, resulting in a fingerprint-resistant, silk-like touch.

With the Reno14 Series, OPPO said it aims to merge craftsmanship with lifestyle, positioning the device as both a fashion statement and a durable smartphone for everyday use.
