In the growing drone market, having insurance has become a smart and practical choice for drone owners. With the high cost of drones—especially when factoring in maintenance, repairs, and potential liabilities.
“Drone Worry Be Happy,” Pioneer’s specialized insurance plan for drone operators, offers peace of mind to both hobbyists and commercial drone owners.
Whether used for leisure or business, drones are always at risk of unexpected accidents—and this insurance is designed to provide protection when they happen.
For hobbyists, the plan covers damage from accidental collisions or allisions, water exposure, fire or lightning, and even Acts of Nature.
For commercial drone operators, the coverage extends further with Hull coverage for accidental loss or damage to the drone itself, and Hull War coverage for losses caused by war and related perils.
Additionally, Third Party Legal Liability protection ensures coverage if the drone causes bodily injury or property damage to others during operation.
In the recent concluded Pioneer Drone Shootfest, an online reel competition that also served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of drone insurance, Pioneer Insurance put the spotlight on drone safety and protection.
“Drones open amazing possibilities for work and for play. But like any tool or passion, they comewith risks. We at Pioneer wanted drone users, whether hobbyists or professionals, to feel confident and protected every time they take flight,” Pioneer Aviation Head James Quin said.
Running from April 16 to May 30, the contest gathered 83 entries from across the country, showcasing “happy places” from Batanes to Sulu. The event celebrated creativity while emphasizing safe and responsible drone use.
Winners took home prizes including a DJI Neo, DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbal, and a Pocket Printer, while consolation prize winners received gift certificates worth P2,000 each.
“Having the right insurance isn’t just a smart choice—it’s essential,” Quin added. “It gives users peace of mind knowing their investment and creativity are protected, allowing them to fly their drones with confidence.”
The preliminary and final judging rounds were held at Pioneer House Makati, where individuals from creative fields, visual storytellers, drone videographers, along with Pioneer executives, came together.
Among the Pioneer officers present were Lorenzo Chan, Jr., Pioneer Group Head; Atty. Betty Medialdea, PISC President and CEO; Jo-I Kapunan, Pioneer Accident and Health Retail Head; and Len Pozon, Pioneer Marketing Head.
Chan noted that the growing interest in drones reflects the need for proper safety measures. “Our recent Drone Shootfest brought the community together and gave us the chance to emphasize the importance of safety and protection while flying,” he said.
