Globe tops NTC SMS quality tests in Metro Manila

Globe Telecom emerged as the top-performing mobile operator in text messaging reliability during the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) latest quality-of-service tests in Metro Manila, recording a 99.41 percent SMS success rate and a peak mobile download speed of 381 megabits per second (Mbps).

According to the results of the joint tests, Globe registered the highest average SMS success ratio among the country’s three major mobile network operators, outperforming Smart Communications and DITO Telecommunity in the category.

Globe was also the only operator to meet the NTC’s prescribed SMS success standard of above 99 percent, highlighting differences in messaging reliability across the networks tested.

For voice services, Globe recorded an average dropped-call ratio of 0.74 percent, well below the NTC’s maximum allowable threshold of 2 percent.

In mobile broadband testing, Globe achieved a peak download speed of 381 Mbps, demonstrating its network’s capacity to deliver high-speed mobile connectivity in the tested areas.

Across all three operators, the NTC reported that 113 out of 142 mobile broadband test campaigns recorded download speeds exceeding 50 Mbps, indicating satisfactory performance in most locations covered by the assessment.

“These results demonstrate the strength of Globe’s network in delivering the essential services Filipinos rely on every day, from making calls and sending messages to accessing mobile data,” said Atty. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel.

“We welcome the NTC’s continued monitoring as it provides an important measure of service quality and helps us identify where further improvements are needed,” he added.

DICT monitoring shows network improvements

Separate monitoring data from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) also showed improvements in Globe’s network performance during the first nine months of 2026.

Under the government’s Oplan Bantay Signal initiative, Globe’s overall network performance score increased from 77.2 in January to 82.6 in September, its highest recorded score during the period.

The company’s average download speed likewise climbed by approximately 41 percent, from 36.5 Mbps in January to 51.53 Mbps in September.

Data from the DICT’s Telco Report Card further showed that Globe accounted for 44.76 percent of the country’s mobile subscriber market in September but represented only 6.1 percent of recorded disconnection complaints.

The report also indicated that complaints involving Globe declined by 64 percent compared with January levels.

The figures suggest improvements in network performance and service reliability, although the NTC’s Metro Manila drive tests and the DICT’s nationwide monitoring use different measurements and should not be treated as directly comparable assessments.

Globe said it continues to invest in network infrastructure, accelerate site deployment, and expand coverage in underserved communities to improve connectivity.

The company is also exploring satellite direct-to-cell technology, which could extend mobile services to remote locations where conventional telecommunications infrastructure remains limited.
