Globe remains only PH telco in TIME sustainability list

Globe has been recognized for the second consecutive year in TIME and Statista’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026, remaining the only Philippine telecommunications company included in the global ranking.

The company was also one of only two Philippine firms recognized this year, placing Globe among 750 companies worldwide cited for sustainability performance, transparency, responsible governance, and long-term value creation.

The list was drawn from more than 5,000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies. TIME and Statista evaluated companies using more than 20 key performance indicators across four areas: sustainable business, commitment and ratings, reporting and transparency, and environmental and social stewardship.

Globe said the recognition reflects its efforts to strengthen responsible business practices while meeting global expectations for sustainability and accountability.

“Earning a place on this global ranking shows that Philippine companies can meet the highest global standards for sustainability, transparency, and responsible governance,” said Carl Cruz, President and CEO of Globe. “Our sustainability practice continues to strengthen, it has become a measure of how we build trust, create long-term value, and remain competitive in a rapidly changing world.”

The recognition comes as sustainability becomes a growing measure of corporate trust, not only in environmental performance but also in governance, transparency, accountability, external ratings, and social impact.

For Globe, the inclusion underscores how Philippine companies can compete globally on sustainability standards increasingly watched by investors, customers, regulators, employees, and communities.

Globe said it continues to integrate sustainability into its operations, investments, and services. Under its decarbonization strategy, the company reported a 15.13 percent year-on-year reduction in gross Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, and a 9.49 percent reduction in gross Scope 3 emissions.

These reductions outpaced its annual targets of 4.2 percent for Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 2.5 percent for Scope 3 emissions.

The company has also expanded its use of renewable energy, transitioning around 700 sites as of end-May 2026. Globe is targeting at least 3,000 renewable energy-powered sites by 2028 as part of its broader sustainability agenda.

Globe said the recognition from TIME and Statista reinforces its belief that sustainable growth and trusted leadership must go together as companies respond to rising expectations on environmental, social, and governance performance.
